I can say unequivocally that christmas time is my most favourite time of the year.
Being of the non religious persuasion, this time of the year is not about celebrating the birth of Jesus but about bringing a spot of cheer to what can be for many a long, cold and dark season.
It’s about bringing the family together for at least one day of the year and taking a moment to forget about all of the social media outlets, the bad news in the world (and let’s face it, there’s been a lot of that this year) and to focus on the then and now of just being a family.
Let’s not forget those full tummies from all of the amazing food this season has to offer us!
In the weeks running up to christmas the streets are full of bright lights, excited faces and cheesy christmas music playing in Sliema. Sometimes those excited faces are replaced by frustration as shoppers bump into one another in their hurry to pick up all of their gifts and finish their errands before the day is done.
I allow myself to be fully immersed in the experience by purchasing christmas jumpers, themed quilt covers, candles and cosy blankets.
It seems that I’m turning into a modern day version of my nan.
And I love it! Ha.
The next time we post will be after New York so we want to take the opportunity to thank you for reading and to wish you all a very Merry Christmas.
Remember that it’s not what you have but who you have in life. You don’t need the jumpers or the socks or the christmas themed quilt covers, but if you can and they make you happy then why not I say 🙂
